Fall is when Belize celebrates itself. If you are visiting properties this season — or already living here — this is what the next few months look like on the ground.
September Celebrations
September is one long national party. The tenth marks St. George's Caye Day, commemorating the 1798 battle, and the twenty-first is Independence Day — with carnival parades, street jump-ups, and flag-draped villages in between. Belize City's carnival route is the biggest spectacle, but every district town stages its own parade, and San Pedro's is a favourite for visitors already out on the caye.
Garifuna Settlement Day — November 19
The fall's most moving celebration belongs to the south. Garifuna Settlement Day re-enacts the arrival of the Garifuna people by dory at dawn — Dangriga and Hopkins are the heart of it — followed by drumming, punta, and church services in the Garifuna language. If you are considering property in Hopkins or the Stann Creek coast, plan a viewing trip around it; you will understand the community you are buying into far better afterward.
The weather turns in your favour
October is the quiet tail of the green season — lush landscapes, soft hotel rates, and the occasional heavy shower — and by late November the dry season's blue-sky weather settles in. It is the ideal window to walk land: you see how parcels drain at the wet end of the year, then how they show at the start of the dry.
A good season to look at property
The fall shoulder season is when serious buyers get attention: agents have more time, sellers who listed in the spring are ready to negotiate, and you are ahead of the winter wave of North American house-hunters. Browse what's currently on the market or tell us what you're looking for before the high season crowds arrive.
